About Amer

Software engineer by day. Dad of two boys. Portrait photographer whenever I can. Each one shows up a little differently in the work.

Hey, I’m Amer
#

I’m a portrait photographer based in Frisco. I’m also a dad, so I get why parents actually care about this stuff: graduation announcements that look like them, photos that still hold up on the wall in ten years. And I’m a software engineer the rest of the time, which is mostly why your gallery actually shows up when I said it would.

I’m based in Frisco, TX, and I shoot seniors, college grads, athletes, brands, and anyone who wants portraits that feel like them. My favorite sessions are the ones that go somewhere unexpected: a location with incredible light, studio-style lighting in the middle of a field, or the whole shoot underwater.

How I got here
#

Photography has been part of my life since I was a kid. As an engineer who loves programming, I’m one of the lucky few who earns a living from my hobby. I also love the outdoors, meeting people, and water. I was missing my creative side and that’s when I picked up a camera and decided that would be my outlet.

Picking up underwater photography was when everything clicked. There’s something about being underwater that’s quiet and perfectly peaceful. Today, I’m one of the few photographers in North Texas doing underwater portrait sessions.

I live here in Frisco with my wife, two boys, and a 6 lb dog who thinks he’s the boss. When I’m not behind the camera or in front of a keyboard, I’m usually at one of my kids’ games, exploring hiking trails, or learning to sail.

Why I do this
#

The honest reason I keep doing this: that moment someone sees their photos and goes “wow.” I want every person I work with to feel more like themselves, not less.

Whether you’re a high school senior, a college grad, an athlete, or a founder building something, I want you to leave the session believing in yourself a little more than when you showed up. That’s what good portraits do.

What a session with me looks like
#

Every session is fully guided. Whether you’re a senior, a college grad, an athlete, a creative building a portfolio, or someone who just wants bold portraits, I’ll help you plan outfits, pick the right location, and walk you through posing so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.

Whether we’re at a park at golden hour, in a downtown alley with studio lighting, or in a pool for an underwater set, I want you to feel confident and have a genuinely good time.

I keep things simple. Availability is limited right now between work and family, and what free time I have goes to personal projects. I’d love to work with you if our visions line up. Photography is still more hobby than business and I want to keep it that way.

If you’ve made it this far, see the work or send me a note. A session, a collaboration, or just to say hi. Every note means a lot, and I’ll get back to you, even if it takes me a few days.

I’m a proud PPA member

Member, Professional Photographers of America

Being part of Professional Photographers of America keeps me sharp. Continuing education with photographers I respect, a code of conduct I sign every year, and insurance for when I’m shooting on location. None of this is visible to clients, but it’s part of why I take the work seriously.
